I adore barcelona, and i adore zlatan! I loved the wa zlatan fitted into the barcelona play..the way they play now is way more efficient, and zlatan does not fit it…but zlatan can do things with the ball that NOONE on barcelona can! and thats what makes him so special! and with zlatan on the field, barcelona can also cross the ball as an alternative way of creating zlatan!
Visca el barca, Forza Zlatan!

@pier755
Well, I didn’t see him playing for Milan, Inter, Juventus, or other top teams.
He played great seasons for Napoli, Parma and Cagliari, but he didn’t win much, actually.
Not saying he failed, but it’s a fact that he didn’t play for a top team in Italy.

Well, different story for Vialli. Certainly he did great things in Italy then moved to Chelsea when he was old.
Di Matteo was ok in Italy, but Zola didn’t really do much here.

@daniglue Didn’t do much in Italy? I’m not sure about that. Vialli was great for both Samp and Juve, Zola was great at Napoli and Parma and Di Matteo was an Italian international when he signed for Chelsea from Lazio. Di Canio was in and out of the first team sides of the clubs he was at.
You’re right in that Soerie A was a higher standard than the Premier League back then though. The squads in the first season of the Prem were pretty poor and nearly all the top players were in Italy.

They didn’t do much in Italy, but in England they were great players.
What I wanted to say is that back then the Italian football was a way better than English.
Now it’s other way round… Balotelli is one of our best talents, but he sit on a bench.

@daniglue I believe that Di Matteo was 26 when he signed for Chelsea. How is that too old? And I think Zola was 29.

this was when the English football level was lower than the Italian’s.
Players like Vialli, Di Matteo, Di Canio and Zola were too old for Serie A, went to England and played like never before.
Not like that anymore, unfortunately.

4-1 win in the league cup mate. We didn`t beat them at home untill august 2005 with that fluke goal from Drogba after this thumping lol. yes it was the semies of 97-98. 5-3 on aggregate.

what seaon was this? It can’t have been 96-97 because Chelsea didn’t play in this kit, in 97-98 in the league Arsenal won 3-2 and Di Matteo didn’t score in that game, and I heard the name platt and I thought he’d left by 1998, so was this a cup game in 97-98 or was it the league game in 98-99 before platt left?
